Although it operates within Usenet, Pluckit Evolved is specifically designed from the ground up to extract binary files (images, movies, music) from the Newsgroups. It is technology resulting from an evolutionary process in software that began in with the first version of Pluckit in 1995.
In several ways, this software is like a living organism. Unsuccessful mutations were not propagated into new versions, successful mutations were. Finally, new and unexpected behavior resulted from the mating of unrelated software code with the combined effect of all the changes that occurred in the past. It quite literally evolved.
